Date data type | |
A date number in Excels own system of date numbers, or can also be a decimal year (eg 2001.5, 2002.75). If the value is a string, the function will attempt to convert it to a number, using the part of the string from the start to the first non-numeric character (ie not one of 0123456789+-*/^). | |
A date in Excel is the number of days elapsed from 1/1/1900. Day number zero is 1/1/1900. ( Excel can also run dates from 1904 as well. We don"t recommend this. We believe the facility exists to be compatible with other platforms, but it is potentially confusing and rather unnecessary.) |
