- Workbook settings are stored in your "ini" file, busfun.ini, located in the Business Functions directory.
- Enforce WorkBook settings takes these settings and applies to them to the entire workbook.
- The purpose of this utility is to remind Excel what settings you require for your workbooks - in our experience it has a habit of forgetting!
- This little utility is beneficial because it is not clear at all as to why Excel sometimes changes the settings your worksheet has. The classic one that gets changed is the calculation mode - either an automatic workbook gets changed to manual or more commonly a manual workbook gets changed to automatic.
- The other thing this little utility is good for is quickly setting defaults for a new sheet you insert. We like to turn gridlines off and its our preference to use Transitional Formula Evaluation.
- The settings in the "ini" file really should be tuned to your personal preferences so do feel free to change them. They use VBA constants which you can find in the Visual Basic documentation, or if you"re having trouble do email us. It could be we prepare a guide to the individual settings.
- A quick note: the default "Enforce Worksheet Settings" sets Formulas to Transition, compatible with Lotus 1-2-3. Amongst other things, blanks are interpreted as zeros with this setting. If you don"t like it, edit the ini file.
